Al-Miqdad receives a copy of the credentials of Ambassador Shi Hongwei as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China

Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, received today a copy of the credentials of Ambassador Shi Hongwei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Syrian Arab Republic.

During the meeting, Minister Mekdad stressed the depth of the historical relations between Syria and China and Syria's pride in the various forms of cooperation existing between the two countries, especially in terms of China's position in support of Syria in the face of the terrorist war imposed on it, and in rejecting the immoral and inhuman unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria and its people of the world.

Minister Mekdad also expressed Syria's high appreciation for the assistance provided by China, praising the role of this assistance in strengthening the steadfastness of the Syrians, and expressing Syria's aspiration for China's wide contribution to the process of rebuilding what was destroyed by terrorism.

Minister Mekdad renewed Syria's support for China to preserve the unity of its land and people and the principle of one China.

In turn, Ambassador Hongwei expressed his pride in his appointment to Syria and his return to work there, praising Syria's positions in support of China in the face of attempts to interfere in its internal affairs and the efforts of some countries to undermine its unity and sovereignty.

The ambassador affirmed his intention to work on strengthening the existing cooperation between Syria and China in various political, economic and cultural fields, and his endeavor to develop and expand this cooperation to include other sectors and broader areas in a way that achieves the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries and their common interests.

At the end of the meeting, the minister wished Ambassador Hongwei success in his duties, stressing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates will provide him with all facilities, in cooperation with various Syrian authorities, to serve the development of relations between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Anwan, Deputy Director of the Protocol and Communications Department, Ambassador Qusai Mustafa, Director of the Afro-Asian and Oceanian Affairs Department, and Reef Al-Halabi, Director of the Media Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. The deputy head of the mission was also present from the Chinese side.
