New York (CNN) --

Good news: Beyoncé is having her "Renaissance" tour.

Bad news: Her fans are already preparing for a difficult time buying tickets, especially after Ticketmaster's failure to sell tickets for Taylor Swift's "Eras" tour.

Beyoncé announced her tour, about which there were already rumors, this Wednesday.

In an Instagram post, the superstar posted simply "RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR 2023."

Her website shows tour dates from May to September.

Beyoncé will perform in cities around the world, making several stops in the United States.

Ticketmaster published a blog post Wednesday with instructions on how to get Beyoncé tour tickets.

People wishing to access the North American leg of the tour must register as a verified supporter, the post explains.

"Demand for this tour is expected to be high," the page anticipated.

“If there is more demand than tickets available, a lottery-style selection process will determine which registered verified supporters get a unique access code and which are placed on the waiting list,” the company reported.

He also added that the access code does not guarantee a ticket.

Fans have been anxiously awaiting news about the tour for some time, but many are already bracing for a Ticketmaster disaster, following the recent chaos over Swift's tour tickets.

Taylor Swift's tour drama began even before tickets officially went on sale.

In mid-November, Ticketmaster's website crashed when Swift's fans attempted to purchase pre-sale tickets for just a handful of dates.

Demand was so high that Ticketmaster ultimately canceled the public sale of the tickets.

Swift was furious, calling the disaster "unbearable for me."

Ticketmaster had to deal with more than just the anger of Swift and her supporters.

The fiasco prompted a US Senate Judiciary Committee hearing designed to examine the lack of competition in the ticketing industry (and give senators a chance to quote lyrics from their favorite T-Swift song). ).

The hearing gave commission members and others an opportunity to denounce Ticketmaster's power within the industry.

More than a decade ago, the company merged with Live Nation, despite fears that the conglomerate would create a monopoly in the ticketing sector.

In 2010, a court filing raising objections to the merger said that Ticketmaster had more than 80% ownership among major event venues.

Ticketmaster disputes that market share estimate, saying it owns at most just over 30% of the concert market, according to chief financial officer Joe Berchtold, who spoke about the business on NPR.

It is currently widely criticized for having too much power in the sector, effectively barring fans and artists from buying or selling tickets through a competitor.

Renaissance, which was released this summer, has been widely acclaimed and was nominated for album of the year at the Grammy Awards.
