The White House said today (Thursday) that the President of the United States Joe Biden discussed with King Abdullah of Jordan ways to reduce tensions, especially in the West Bank.
According to the announcement, the president emphasized his support for the two-state solution and emphasized the role Jordan plays as the sponsor of the Muslim holy places in Jerusalem.
"There is a critical need to preserve the historical status quo on the Temple Mount (Haram al-Sharif)," Biden told the king.
The conversation between Biden and Abdullah took place after earlier the vice president of the US, Kamala Harris, met with the king herself. The two talked about the tensions in the Judea and Samaria region. According to an official statement issued by the White House following the meeting, Harris expressed her concern about the recent violence and tension in Jerusalem and emphasized the importance of maintaining the status quo on the Temple Mount.
