Crime of Lucio Dupuy: the story of the mother and her girlfriend, convicted of the murder of the 5-year-old boy

2023-02-02T15:24:05.818Z

Both were found guilty of the murder of the little boy, which occurred in November 2021 in Santa Rosa, La Pampa. They are imprisoned in San Luis.

Magdalena Espósito Valenti will be 26 years old on February 14, Valentine's Day.

He will "celebrate" him in prison, in Penitentiary Complex No. 1 in the province of San Luis, together with his partner, Abigail Páez, 28. Both, already convicted of killing Lucio Dupuy, 5 years old, son of "Magui" and stepson of "Abi", beaten to death on November 26, 2021.

In the case of Espósito, she was convicted as the perpetrator of the

"homicide triple qualified for cruelty, treachery and the link"

but was acquitted for sexual abuse, while her partner was the material author of

"homicide qualified for cruelty and treachery and for grossly outrageous sexual abuse"

of the child.

But Lucio's ordeal began before, long before, he suffered almost all his short life.

The ups and downs over the possession of the little boy, between Espósito and his former partner, Christian Dupuy (27), were a constant.

The break between them occurred in 2019, when they separated while living in Luján.

At that moment, they agreed that the little boy would stay with Maximiliano Dupuy, his uncle, in General Pico, about 100 kilometers north of Santa Rosa.

In January 2020, Valenti informed the Family and Minor Court No. 1 of La Pampa, in charge of Ana Pérez Ballester, that her socioeconomic situation had changed and she wanted to regain custody of her son.

It is that

he had settled in Santa Rosa with his new partner, AbigaIl, with whom he would have started his relationship back in 2018.

In a house on Allan Kardec street at 2300, in the pampean capital, "Magui" and "Abi" projected a venture in the confectionery business.

Esposito also worked at the Hotel Mercure, of the Casino Club de Santa Rosa, on kilometer 606 of RN 5, in one of the accesses to the city.

Esposito, Paez and Lucio.

The women were convicted of the crime of the little boy, which occurred in November 2021 in La Pampa.

Beyond the fact that before Lucio went to live with his mother and the girlfriend, the "pulling" due to his possession had already generated a complex climate for his upbringing and education, the issue of mistreatment and physical abuse began with that move to the Kardec street.

A key piece of information confirms this:

Lucio had five admissions to different medical centers between December 18, 2020 and March 23, 2021

, due to a broken wrist and trauma to his fingers and a cut on the pear.

The sixth admission is to the Evita Hospital on November 26, 2021 (the day of the crime), which reveals the skull fracture and two broken ribs.

Esposito is from General Pico, there he met Lucio's father and the little boy was born there.

He went to the Don Eduardo De Chapeaurouge College, in that city, the second most important in the province.

Páez is from Santa Rosa, a family made up of three brothers and his mother.

In the San Luis prison where they are staying and from where they witnessed the verdict, the convicted women received some family visits since they were transferred there, a few days after the crime.

Espósito's mother went to see her once.

Her brother, Maximiliano, Lucio's uncle, had no relationship with "Magui" for a long time before.

Her parents went to see Páez.

Statements at trial

The two defendants for Lucio's crime testified during the trial that took place in Santa Rosa, and in both cases they tried to minimize their participation in the act.

Lucio's mother pointed at her son's father, Christian Dupuy, and said when declaring on the last day of the trial:

"I am criticized, but not the father, because calling him father is too big for him.

He is justified when the responsibility belonged to both of them. However, at all times he ignored the creature".

During his statement, in which he did not accept questions, Esposito recalled that that morning he left his son "alive" in the care of his girlfriend to go to work at the Casino Club hotel, and that "to this day" he continues "without be able to believe" what happened to him.

Abigail Páez and Magdalena Espósito Valenti, mother of Lucio, during the third hearing of the oral trial.

After that, he stated that

his son "mourns in private"

because it is "more human than doing it in front of people who did not know him" and that they said "a lot of things" about his "supposed rejection of motherhood".

Earlier, on December 7,

Abigail Páez acknowledged before the judges that she hit Lucio

and gave details of the attack: "When I got home, I saw Lucio who was sending a booger. It doesn't matter what, because he doesn't come to the case. So I took him by the arm and kicked him several times on the tail. It was all very fast, I don't know. I hit him and I didn't measure where the truth was, I don't even know why," he said, while he began to cry.

"I still can't find an explanation for it.

I know I hurt him, I realized at the moment and I tried to remedy it.

Then I picked him up and took him to the shower because I thought he was going to react. He was trying to speak, he was still conscious," he added. .

Then he said that he saw that the child "was getting weaker or fainting" so he covered him with his towel and took him to his room: "I sat him on the bed and went to look for clothes in his room to change him, as quickly as possible possible because it was a very desperate situation in which he did not know how to react, or what to do to get him together," he continued.

In the silence of the entire room, Páez recounted how Lucio lost consciousness: "When I go to look for clothes to change him I hear a knock and when I come back I see that he was lying on the floor, without reaction. Facing the floor. Not even He had supported his hands. As if he were fainted, I don't know. Then, out of fear, I touched him with my foot to see if he would react and I saw that he had no response, so I approached him and turned him over, turning him on his back." , said.

Páez said that he tried to perform CPR on him, although he does not know if he did it correctly or if it could have hurt him, after which he took him to the medical room and from there to the hospital, where they told him that Lucio had died.
