At the end of November, a consultation was launched by the City of Nice on the extension of the Promenade du Paillon.

Objective: to better understand the expectations of the inhabitants in terms of development and organization of the public space within the park which will be created between the Traverse de la Bourgada and the esplanade of Lattre de Tassigny.

On this occasion, the people of Nice were able to indicate which uses they wish to favor and which are the priority facilities to be put in place within the framework of the new landscape, cultural and environmental perspectives which are opening up.

The report of this consultation was presented Wednesday to residents and representatives of neighborhood committees by Mayor Christian Estrosi, who welcomed the 1624 opinions submitted.

It's triple the public consultation!"

“, enthused the city councilor, specifying that”

on all of these opinions, we collected 491 concrete proposals, and only 22 negative opinions.

Once this report was presented, the city councilor took the opportunity to unveil the new visuals of the future "urban forest", a huge eight-hectare landscaped park to be developed by 2025 in place of the old one. National Theater of Nice (TNN) and the Acropolis convention center, in the direct extension of the Paillon promenade.

A forest imagined by

"the best experts and specialists, whether in climate, biodiversity, botany, planning, landscape architecture"

, he insisted.

Eight hectares of forest

Because it is with a concern for the preservation of the environment and the limitation of the risks linked to climate change that this project was born.

, "let rainwater infiltrate and thus limit the risk of 'flood in the city',

", he pointed out, pointing to the deconstruction of the convention center.

And to underline "

the

social risk of the employees of the management who still ensure the activity of Acropolis today in understaffing

".

For its part, the environmental group had not failed to criticize a polluting project: "

If you had seriously carried out an impact study, you would have understood that your projects contribute to the production of greenhouse gases, therefore to global warming. climate

", had scolded Fabrice Decoupigny (EELV), denouncing "

a catastrophic carbon footprint when we destroy to rebuild

.”

At the end of heated exchanges, the demolition of Acropolis had still been recorded.
