The buyers found themselves with… a stolen vehicle!

A young 20-year-old couple and another slightly older man were arrested on Monday January 30 in Mitry-Mory by the police for organized fraud.

The trio resold Renault Mégane IVs on the Le Bon Coin classifieds site in exchange for cash payment.

They would have defrauded at least six victims with this modus operandi.

The authors will be judged by the criminal court of Meaux in immediate appearance this Friday, February 3.

Their first announcement spotted on the site dates from last November.

Each time, these individuals used the same process to bamboozle potential customers.

They made up the Renault Mégane IV, then they offered them for sale on the Bon Coin.

Each time, the transactions had to be carried out in cash.

A buyer spotted and reported the scam

During the appointment, the couple of scammers brought the vehicle.

When the victim tried it, they quickly left with the envelope containing the money.

Buyers thus unknowingly found themselves with a stolen car.

In all, six Renault Mégane IVs sold this way were spotted by the police.

For now, the damage is estimated at at least 50,000 euros.

Having realized the pitfall, one of the victims contacted the police who had already been mobilized on this case for several weeks.

The various protagonists in this case were arrested on Monday in Mitry-Mory.

Obviously, the oldest was apparently the one who orchestrated these scams while the couple took care of bringing the cars.

The presumed instigator of these shenanigans was already known for facts of the same type.

In all, six victims were fooled.

But investigators continue to search for other potential stolen vehicles.

Did they steal the vehicles themselves?

Did they retrieve them from another network?

Until their referral to the Meaux prosecutor's office on Wednesday, the three suspects remained silent throughout their police custody.
