Ofakim children dream of reaching the moon - voila! native

Hundreds of residents and guests participated this week in the Israel Space Week 2023 events, which took place at the Apple Pis center in Ofakim.

Visitors to the site enjoyed a variety of free activities, which provided a glimpse into the world of space and what it contained, and included, among others, stargazing, an escape room, a show about Newton's third law, virtual reality and augmented reality rooms, hologram projectors, a spaceship and shuttle model building workshop, an immersive room, a stand Photography ("I'm an astronaut"), and more.

The space experience was run by the trainees of the "Horizons for Science" preparatory school.

"Science is a significant tool in our day-to-day life, both in improving the quality of life and in terms of national security," said the mayor of Ofakim, Itzik Danino.

"Israel produces significant scientific achievements for the whole world. The local education system, together with a science center - Tapfu Pis, constitute a platform for creating curiosity and knowledge with which our youth can continue to develop in the field of science, and to see - the achievements of the youth are restrained in the field of space and robotics, of which we are proud is very".

Space Week 2023 this year dealt with the theme "Space in the Service of the Earth", and was dedicated to marking the 40th anniversary of the Israel Space Agency's activities and the 20th anniversary of the Columbia space shuttle disaster, in which the first Israeli astronaut, the late Ilan Ramon, perished. The event held at Ofakim was another step towards The general public to the fields of science and space, to raise awareness of research and the space industry in Israel and the world, and to encourage science education.
