Opinion When Chaimi made Bent | Israel today

2023-02-02T08:36:26.103Z

The chairman of the Bar Association who is resigning chose to blame the "poison machine" instead of realizing that he, and only he, is responsible for his downfall • But he did not invent the method, he just copied and pasted the former prime minister

Avi Himi, the outgoing chairman of the Bar Association, sat down for an interview with Guy Peleg in an attempt to minimize the public damage, and possibly even the criminal damage, caused by the exposure of Ila Hasson on News 13 that he exposed himself in a shameful way in a video call with a lawyer with whom he was in contact. It was difficult Not to notice that Hami is in a very difficult moment, the hardest in his life as he himself said. The man looks completely broken.

Hymi's move was this: first and foremost, he claimed that the entire relationship with that lawyer was consensual, a so-called affair, and that that documented segment was actually part of an ongoing relationship.

"I am not a sex offender," claimed Hami, perhaps already thinking about the not very theoretical possibility that he will soon be summoned for questioning by the police.

After clearing himself of the part of the sex offenders, Hami tried to explain why there is no need to be overly excited about the fact that he recommended for prosecution someone with whom he had an intimate personal relationship.

By and large, Chaimi's explanation is that there is no dramatic significance to the fact that he is recommending a judge and that he is recommending many others in the same way.

After finishing the defense phase, Hami moved to the attack phase.

In the interview itself, he accused: "There is an evil agent who takes care of every person who thinks differently."

The day before, in his response to the revelation of the affair, he said: "This publication is part of the poison machine of those who work to promote the coup d'état."

The use of the phrase "poison machine" made me remember someone who used it a lot in the last year and a half - former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

In May 22, Bennett said: "A false poison machine is standing in front of us", in June he said of the opposition: "a loud and deadly poison machine", and in December, when he went on his campaign of lawsuits against tweeters, he wrote: "For the past year and a half, the poison machine has been active against me, against my family and friends A series of vile and false campaigns."

By the way, one of the partners in the "poison machine" that Bennett is targeting without mentioning her name is the same Ila Hasson, who published the costs in the millions of renovating Bennett's private house in Ra'anana.

Bennett's method of dealing with, or rather not dealing with, the criticism of him was simple: to claim that it is actually not relevant, but stems from some demon who is using bots and tweeters against him.

If it weren't for them, Bennett claimed, everyone would understand how successful I am as a prime minister and how good my government is.

But the ignorant masses were brainwashed and so I, Bennett, was removed.

Bennett chose to ignore the fact that many, many of his supporters, people who voted for him election after election, some of whom worked for his election and even worked with him and were in contact with him, were among the leaders of the opposition to him.

They are the ones who felt personally betrayed, who were embarrassed in front of those who convinced them to vote for Bennett, who felt that the man they believed in had misled them.

Some of them chose to call Bennett a crook because they felt in the most personal way possible that the man simply crossed them when he chose to break his promises and form a left-wing government.

They didn't need some dumb "poison machine" to tell them that.

They really felt it.

They feel it even today.

Now Attorney Hami adopts the Bennett method. When he realizes that he is failing, that a shameful act he has done is exposed for all to see and that perhaps his career is coming to an end, he chooses not to take responsibility for his actions but to blame the "poison machine". Does it even matter who and what is standing Behind the publication when there is no dispute that the ugly sexual act took place?

Bennett, God forbid, is not suspected of anything similar to what was alleged against me.

But in both cases there is an equal side - that people, instead of admitting that they are guilty of their fall, choose the easy way of blaming the poison machine.

And correction, as we know, does not start with beating someone else's chest.
