The heads of the coalition decided this week not to promote any plan other than the legal reform, and this until a new announcement - this is what officials in the coalition told Walla.

At the meeting of the heads of the coalition, it was decided to postpone controversial reforms and programs in order to focus on Justice Minister Yariv Levin's reform of the judicial system, which the coalition aims to pass by the beginning of April.

Karai is expected to present his plans at the Communications Ministry, including the plans for the Public Broadcasting Corporation next week, but will state that they will be promoted after the completion of the legislation of the first phase of the legal reform.

On Tuesday, Communications Minister Shlomo Karai planned to announce a cut of hundreds of millions in the budget of the Public Broadcasting Corporation.

"There is no place for public broadcasting in the State of Israel," he said in numerous interviews on the subject.

One of the assessments heard in the political system is that the government "does not want the media against them during the legal process".

Another possibility is the understanding that a reform like the one planned in the corporation will pass more quickly after the legal one passes.

"The struggle continues in full force"

Last week, an emergency conference was held to combat damage to the corporation here, under the title "We will not allow the elimination of public broadcasting".

The conference was attended by hundreds of journalists and editors from various media.

Speakers included the Chairman of the Organization of Journalists Nurit Kanti, CEO of News 12 Avi Weiss, News 13 journalist Ayala Hasson, Kaan 11 and Reshet B journalist and member of the corporation's employee committee Yoav Karakovski, "Ovda" and News 12 journalist Ilana Dayan, Chairman of the Documentary Makers Forum Hagit Ben Ya'akov, and journalist here 11 Yigal Guetta. In addition, words of support for the corporation filmed by the Vice President and Head of the News Department at the European Broadcasting Union, Liz Corbin, were screened. The event was moderated by 103FM journalist Anat Davidov. At the end of the conference, dozens of journalists left and female journalists for a protest march against Minister Karai's intention to close the corporation, and blocked part of Ibn Gvirol Street in Tel Aviv.

The journalists' organization responded: "For the past few weeks, spins have been landing on us every day, our fight to prevent damage to the Israel Broadcasting Corporation continues in full force until Minister Karai announces in his voice that he is shelving the plan to close public broadcasting. Only those who see the free media as enemies convey messages to them through a third party

"We do not accept the statement that the plan to harm the corporation is delayed until the appropriate conditions are created for it

.

We demand that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Communications announce that they are stopping any attempt to interfere in the work of journalists.

We will not allow the freedom of the press, creativity and thought to be harmed."
