As part of his tour of Aleppo Governorate, the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Qatana, was briefed on the reality of agricultural work in the governorate.

Minister Qatna inaugurated the nitrogenous liquid production unit in the Aleppo Agricultural Directorate, and put it into service, a grant from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and with the support of the Russian Federation.

The unit operates with a production capacity of 30 liters of nitrogenous liquid per hour, at a temperature of minus 196 degrees Celsius and of high purity, within the framework of the project to disseminate and popularize artificial insemination, which is implemented by the Directorate as free support for cow breeders in Syria.

In addition, Minister Qatana was briefed on the implementation of the production plan in the areas of As-Safira, Deir Hafer, Manbij, the town of Tal Arn, and Tal Al-Sous in the Deir Hafer region. He also reviewed the genetic bank rehabilitation project in the International Center for Agricultural Research (ICARDA) and the reality of the Muqar Maskanah complex in the Manbij area.

Minister Qatna listened to the demands of the farmers, which focused on securing production requirements to support farmers and livestock breeders, securing cotton seed, rehabilitating the maize dryer, rehabilitating the agricultural bank branch building, securing fuel for agricultural machinery and tractors, the difficulties experienced by the Maskanah complex, and the need to secure administrative and financial staff, workers and doctors. And veterinary monitors and the necessary mechanisms.

In a statement to reporters, the engineer Qatana stated that the area cultivated with wheat in Aleppo is about 140,000 hectares, which is one of the largest cultivated areas in the country, and all production requirements have been secured, including fertilizers, seeds and fuel, pointing to the contract to introduce about 1,000 heads of cows, 500 of which will be supplied. to the cattle station in Maskanah.

Minister Qatna indicated that those who need additional quantities of fertilizers are available in the market after allowing the import of 180,000 tons, calling for expansion in the cultivation of flowers and ornamental plants, which have a major role in securing the local market from needs, as well as exporting and returning it as it was in the past, and investing in yellow corn dryers. .
