Shooter Raed Abu Asali turned his passion for shooting sports since his childhood days, as a result of his influence on his father and grandfathers who practiced it and were among the first interested in it in As-Suwayda, to entering its fields as a player who left his mark in it.
Abu Asali started practicing skeet shooting officially, as he mentioned, through a Venezuelan club, for a very short period, until he joined the shooting club in As-Suwayda in 2010, after his return from travel, and his participation was initially limited to the governorate’s championships because the Shebaa Central Shooting Club in the countryside of Damascus was suspended. His level developed successively and he achieved many first positions in it.
During his speech to SANA, Abu Asali stated that after the Shebaa Club returned to work, it participated in several tournaments in it, and won five silver medals and four gold medals, including two republican championships. He also set a new number for Olympic participation of 113 out of 125 according to the year 2018 and 116 according to the year 2019, and this number None of the shooters has achieved it for more than 13 years, as mentioned.
Abu Asali pointed out that he was able to win advanced positions in skeet shooting championships at the Syrian level for six consecutive years, despite the lack of requirements for this sport and the difficulty of obtaining them and the lack of training as a result.
Abu Asali considered that his participation as a sole player on behalf of the Syrian national team in the World Championships in Egypt in 2021 at the age of 42 constituted an opportunity for him to compete with world champions and represent Syria in an honorable manner, despite his lack of an advanced position in it as a result of the short period of preparation and preparation for it.
And the sport of shooting enjoys a great place with Abu Asali, as he sees that it runs in his blood and nourishes his spirit and mind, and he feels great comfort when practicing it and gives him self-confidence, indicating that its practice requires concentration and high physical fitness, in addition to providing all the requirements for its practice, as it is very high.
Abu Asali, 44, hopes for new participation in upcoming foreign tournaments, as he believes that he is still able to give, indicating that the local tournaments, which are relatively few, do not satisfy his thirst for foreign podiums.
Abu Asali is currently practicing his training only before tournaments, and in the Shebaa Club, he hopes to overcome all the difficulties he encounters with other shooters, especially with regard to providing their tools in the required manner so that they can continue training that raises their level for the better.
According to the head of the technical committee for shooting sports in Suwayda, Raya Zain al-Din, Abu Asali is one of the distinguished players in skeet shooting. Despite this, he always remained at the forefront, expressing her pride in him and the players who defied the odds and achieved championships.
