(CNN) --
Pamela Anderson became famous in red.
In fact, the swimsuit that she and her "Baywatch" co-stars wore in the 1990s is so iconic that Pantone officially christened her shade "Baywatch Red."
So perhaps there was no better color than what the 55-year-old star could have rocked at the premiere of the new Netflix documentary about her life, "Pamela, a love story."
In a nod to her CJ Parker character, Anderson arrived at the Tudum Theater in Los Angeles in a scoop-neck gown by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan.
The figure-hugging gown might not have been the precise hue Pantone immortalized to commemorate the series' 30th anniversary in 2019, but it nonetheless conjured images of Parker patrolling sunny Los Angeles beaches, often in slow motion, in a one-piece swimsuit during her five seasons on the show.

Social media users seemed to appreciate the memory.
Responding to Khan's eponymous brand's Instagram post, Victoria's Secret model Tika Camaj described Anderson's appearance at the premiere as an "iconic moment."
Anderson's stylist Rebecca Ramsey wrote on Instagram after the premiere: "She invented red."
The beaded gown, part of Khan's Resort 2023 collection, sells for just under $6,000, making it more expensive than the original "Baywatch" swimsuit that sold (along with a buoy and a signed photo) for $4,920 at auction in California in 2014.

The actress was accompanied at the event on Monday by her sons Dylan and Brandon Lee, the latter co-producer of the Netflix documentary.
Speaking to Access Hollywood on the pink carpet, Anderson said her children had kept her informed of her current status as a style icon, decades after she emerged as the archetypal blonde.
"My kids would tell me, 'People love '90s style, and people wear red bathing suits for Halloween costumes,'" Anderson explained.
"And I was like, 'No, this is crazy! It's fun, it's so cute and flattering. It's like coming full circle. We were having a good time back then. It was never a select experience."
Available now on Netflix, “Pamela, a Love Story” chronicles Anderson's struggles with her ubiquitous sex symbol status, as well as her tumultuous relationship with Tommy Lee and her infamous stolen sex tape. In the documentary, which is being released along with her new memoir, Anderson tries, as she puts it, to "take control of the narrative for the first time."
