The Cinema House presents for the second time a film directed by Martin McDonagh

The audience of the Cinema House attended this evening the black comedy and crime movie (Three Paintings Outside Ebbing, Missouri) written, directed and produced by the Englishman Martin McDonagh, and it is the second time that a movie of his within this project has been shown.

The film won two Oscars, Best Lead Actress for Frances McDormand, Best Supporting Actor for Sam Rockwell, and the People's Choice Award at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. It co-starred Woody Harrelson, John Hawkes, and Peter Dinklage.

The film, based on a real incident in America, tells the story of a divorced mother who is grieved by the death of her teenage daughter about seven months ago. She is dissatisfied with the police’s failure to detect the perpetrator, which prompts her to rent three paintings next to her house, which can be read sequentially through three phrases that raise questions about the crime and accusations of negligence and incompetence. responsibility by the town authorities.

Events soon intertwine with the sympathy of the townspeople for the mother, beginning with the resentment (Willoughby), the ruler of the town, of the significance of the three paintings, after which the mother is subjected to several harassments. The circumstances are later found out by police officer Dixon.

Regarding the selection of the film, director Firas Muhammad, one of the supervisors of the House of Cinema project, said in a statement to SANA: We chose this film because it was one of the best films in the year it was shown, and because its maker has a special mechanism for writing the script that is characterized by smoothness and simplicity with depth at the same time. And he indicated that showing McDonagh's films is an opportunity for the audience of the Cinema House to watch this type of film and to see the performances of its actors.

The Cinema House project is being held by the General Film Organization under the supervision of directors Firas Muhammad and Ramy Nidal on a bi-monthly and periodic basis at the Canadian Cinema in Damascus.
