In continuation of the national project for creative industries launched by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Higher Commission for Scientific Research and the Syrian Virtual University, and in implementation of the recommendations of the first national conference for creative industries.
The Steering Committee dedicated to developing the national policy held its first meeting in the Ministry's building in Damascus.
During the meeting, which was chaired by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Labana Mashouh, a set of ideas and working papers were discussed to develop a future vision for investment in these industries and define the national policy for creative industries leading to a comprehensive strategy and executive programs to support and enhance them and supervise their implementation steps.
The committee included: the President of the Syrian Virtual University and the Deputy Minister of Culture, the President of the Higher Authority for Scientific Research, the Chairman of the Excellence and Creativity Authority, the Director General of Al-Assad National Library, the Advisor to the Minister of Culture, representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Damascus University - Faculty of Architecture, and the Director of Communication and Executive Support at the Ministry Culture, and Assistant Director General of Al-Assad National Library.
It is noteworthy that the Creative Industries Conference was launched on the fourteenth of last December at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus, and lasted for two days with the aim of introducing the concept of creative industries and researching its fields, the elements of its success and its importance in social, economic and cultural development.
