Firefighters rushed to the scene to fight the fire, and at 9:13 p.m. the fire was upgraded to No. 3, and 4 hoses and 4 smoking cap teams were used to fight the fire.

It is understood that the sundry room of a building under construction in the site where the incident occurred first caught fire, and the workers on site confirmed that everyone was safe after counting.

No one was injured in the incident and no evacuation was required.

The fire was surrounded at 10:50 pm and was largely extinguished by 10:53 pm.


The Fire Services Department reminded members of the public to close doors and windows and remain calm if affected by the smoke and odor drifting with the wind.

The police said that they received multiple reports at the time of the incident, alleging that a fire broke out at a garbage station at the Phase II site of Fu Die Village in Tai Po.

The firefighters arrived at the scene and put out the fire. After preliminary investigation, it is believed that the fire was caused by an unextinguished cigarette butt at the above site, and the cause is not suspicious.

No one was injured in the incident and no evacuation was required.
