Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin discussed with Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, a number of issues of common concern, in addition to the situation in Syria.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today: The two sides indicated the common intention to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the Group of Friends Defending the Charter of the United Nations.
The Foreign Ministry added that the two sides stressed the special interest in discussing crises and conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa, with a focus on the situation in the Gulf, Yemen, Libya and Syria.
