The Chilean government decreed this Friday a state of catastrophe in the Ñuble region due to a series of forest fires in the area.
“I have decided to decree a State of Constitutional Exception of catastrophe for the Ñuble region.
Together, we face the emergency with the greatest possible force," said President Gabriel Boric through his Twitter account.
I have instructed to decree a State of Constitutional Exception of Catastrophe to fight the forest fires that affect the Biobío Region and ensure the safety of people.
I will visit the Region of Ñuble and Biobío to accompany the families.

The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, pointed out at a press conference in Ñuble that there are 15 fires in the region, five of them with a red alert due to their aggressiveness.
"We are close to 14,000 hectares consumed," he added.
The governor of the Ñuble region, Oscar Crisóstomo, added that there are more than 70 homes affected.
