Galapagos: between danger and hope

The chain's correspondent in Quito, Ana María Cañizares, received the award at the UNP's Gonzalo Bonilla theater.
The documentary, released in November 2021 and presented by Maria Celeste Arrarás, shows how the population of the Galapagos Islands survived the impact of covid-19 and the reduction in scientific and tourist activity.
Next Sunday, February 12 at 9 pm (Miami time) CNN en Español will once again broadcast the audiovisual work for its audiences throughout the region.
The Galapagos Islands are the natural heart of Ecuador and the world.
It is the first Natural Heritage of Humanity declared in 1978 by Unesco and the thermometer that shows both the health of the planet and the ability of human beings to influence its care.
For the production of this documentary, CNN en Español toured the Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal islands in the Galapagos, and exposed the effects of illegal and indiscriminate fishing, pollution and global warming that are subjecting the Galapagos ecosystem to dramatic pressure on the species.

Ana María Cañizares collaborated in the production of this documentary that shows the resilience of the population of the Galapagos.
Likewise, the journalist shows the coexistence between the problems that affect the islands and the fight for the conservation of the ecosystem.
