The government plans to reclaim the sea in District 137, Tseung Kwan O, and add 50,000 housing units. At the same time, construction waste treatment facilities and waste transfer stations will be built in District 132, which is about 1 km away from the shore of Yuejing Bay.

The Sai Kung District Council held a special meeting today (3rd), dissatisfied with the government's plan to build six "disgusting facilities" in Tseung Kwan O, and urged to find another site.

The government plans to reclaim the sea facing the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery (Tseung Kwan O Area 132). The newly built land will build multiple public facilities, including power facilities to input zero-carbon energy.

It is recommended to consider putting it in the Lei Yue Mun Quarry or cave

The government intends to rebuild the filling transfer facilities and concrete plant originally located in Area 137 in Area 132, which is adjacent to the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery, and will build power transformation facilities for mainland power transmission to Hong Kong, construction waste treatment facilities, waste transfer stations, and marine waste collection point.

The six facilities are about 1 km away from the shore of Metropark Bay, and the councilors called them "six disgusting facilities".

Members of different factions in the District Council opposed all the six facilities being placed in the district.

Cheung Mei-hung believes that the residents of Tseung Kwan O have undertaken disgusting facilities and social responsibilities for decades, and related facilities should be moved to locations farther away from residential areas, such as the Lei Yue Mun Quarry, and consideration can also be given to putting them into caves to reduce odor emission.

Worry about the southwest wind blowing the smell into the houses

Fang Guoshan said that Tseung Kwan O often blows south to southwest winds, and it is expected that related facilities will continue to affect the air quality in the area, and residents are worried about the return of the bad smell.

Zhang Zhanpeng believed that the government did not choose caves in order to "save money, save time, and be greedy", and put all the facilities in the Tseung Kwan O area, and urged the relocation to Lei Yue Mun Quarry.

Chen Yaochu pointed out that there is Anlian Village on the mountain in District 132, and the villagers have not received any notice.

An official from the Development Bureau pointed out that the bureau will study the cavern proposal in detail, but believes that the facilities have regional needs, such as the need to be near the sea to facilitate transportation.

The substation facilities are used to receive electricity from the Mainland to Hong Kong, and are odorless and noiseless.

As for the concrete plant, she admitted that the current concrete plant in Yau Tong was poorly managed, and hoped that the new operator who won the tender would do a good job in management.
