Gareth Bale
did not take time to mourn his retirement as a professional footballer, that activity that kept him competing at a high level for more than 15 years, and he has already embarked on a new adventure in the world of sports: he
debuted as a golfer at the PGA Tour.
With
less than a month to hang up the boots, the former Real Madrid is competing in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a tournament in which 156 amateur players participate in pairs with a professional.
He pairs up with the American Joseph Barmlett and already shows all his ability.
During the action this Thursday in California, in which the Bale-Barmlett couple delivered a -7 card, the Welshman
surprised with a shot from a paved path
with which he managed to leave the ball a few centimeters from the hole.
It was a great "approach" or approach shot, one of the most difficult in that sport since it requires a good dose of concentration and wrist.
The video quickly went around the networks and some were encouraged to joke about it:
"Gareth Bale was wasting his talent as a footballer,"
tweeted the @Football_Tweet account.
The World Cup player in
Qatar 2022
explained that execution: "I couldn't play it properly because there was a cord in front of me. In the practice shots I hit the cord, so now I
had to support myself well, hold it well down and hit it on the bench",
detailed.
"I was lucky, but I got the shot that I thought and that I tried to do. Then I asked the cameraman if he had captured that moment," he closed, laughing.
