John Poulos, the main suspect in the murder of Colombian DJ Valentina Trespalacios, will remain in custody, according to an order issued this Thursday by the 59th criminal judge with guarantee functions, once the capture legalization hearing is over. .

The petition was made by the prosecutor in the case, Daniel Gómez, arguing that Poulos represents a danger to society and that, furthermore, in his case there is a risk of flight.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the evidence of the atrocious homicide committed against Valentina Trespalacios on January 22 indicates that it was an aggravated femicide.

And that is why she charged that charge against Poulos, in addition to another for the crime of concealment of evidence.

The preventive detention measure against Poulos was taken after a week of deliberations in which the prosecution, Poulos's defense and the victim's lawyer were able to present their arguments before the guarantee control judge.

"As indicated in judgment C-025 of 2008, preventive detention in a prison is a precautionary measure of a personal nature that a judge adopts in the course of a criminal proceeding and consists of provisional deprivation of liberty, since Its objective is to carry out the constitutional rights and duties that, strictly speaking, consist of ensuring compliance with the decisions adopted in the process”, said the 59th criminal judge of Bogotá in his decision.

The murder of Trespalacios has shocked the country due to the brutality with which it was committed.

The victim's body was found by a recycler on Sunday, January 22, in a garbage container in the southwestern area of ​​Bogotá.
