An Israeli official in the Prime Minister's entourage said in a press briefing that French President Emmanuel Macron briefly raised the issue of the Israeli justice system on the sidelines of the conversation with Netanyahu and expressed concern about the consequences of the plan on Israeli democracy.

The senior official noted that Netanyahu told Macron that the purpose of the plan is to rebalance the authorities in Israel and emphasized that the implementation of the plan will not harm democracy in Israel but will strengthen it.

Netanyahu told Macron that he called on the opposition to hold talks about the plan, but up until this moment the opposition has not shown a willingness to talk.

"I believe there will be talks after the plan passes the first reading in the Knesset," Netanyahu told Macron, according to the senior official.

However, contrary to Netanyahu's words - it is precisely the coalition that is refusing compromise discussions on the issue, after Lapid and Gantz called for the establishment of a special committee for this.

The main issue discussed between Macron and Netanyahu was Iran.

The Prime Minister said in a press briefing that there is a great rapprochement between Israel and France on this issue.

"Macron expressed a willingness to consider the imposition of sanctions on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards," Netanyahu said.

"We discussed coordination in various fields related to Iran and practical steps."

"Want to prevent escalation."

Netanyahu stressed to Macron that he is interested in preventing a flare-up in the West Bank and emphasized that Israeli policy is targeted action against the terrorists and their relatives while avoiding collective punishment.

"I said that we are interested in preventing escalation as much as possible," Netanyahu noted.

Another topic in the conversation was the attempt to promote additional normalization agreements with the Arab world.

Netanyahu noted that Macron asked him about Saudi Arabia.

The prime minister replied that it was a possibility, but emphasized that it was up to the Saudis.

Netanyahu also stated to Macron that he believes that an agreement with Saudi Arabia will bring great changes to the entire region and promote peace with the Palestinians.
