(ANSA) - ASSISI (PERUGIA), 03 FEB - "DestinazioneAssisi" is the name of a project that proposes a system considered innovative and unique in Umbria for detecting tourist presence in the city.
Based on a particular algorithm that allows you to analyze numbers and origins, starting from data collected from the mobile telephone network, anonymously and in full respect of privacy.
In practice, we start from the SIM cards of mobile phones that connect to the Tim network to obtain "reliable and almost real-time data" - as stated in a note from the Municipality -, on a daily basis, on all visitors.
The attendance tracking platform was created for the Administration by Tim Enterprise and Olivetti.
The objective is to trace a quantitative and qualitative profile of tourists, identifying their geographical origin, age range, gender and the most visited places in order to better manage the flows and direct "in a more structured and effective way" the activities, services offered and promotion of the area.
"This tool - underlined the mayor of Assisi Stefania Proietti - has the objective of improving the quality of supply and demand. Therefore, increasing the number of visitors who will choose the city. It is an innovative project to monitor tourist attendance and flows, but also to make Assisi a true smart city".

data, aggregated and anonymised, are sent in real time to the Big Data platform by Olivetti which, with special algorithms, expands them to the total population present, transforming them into useful information to support the public administration in analyzing the territory".
