(CNN Spanish) --

Last year the eyes of the musical world fell on the Canary Islands, Spain, for Quevedo's song with the Argentine producer Bizarrap, but another native of these islands is also attracting attention: PtaZeta.

The singer presented this week her new song "Tiki Tiki" with the also Spanish Lola Índigo.

It is a spicy and very suggestive song, a characteristic of the canary pen.

PtaZeta and sexuality in music

During her short but fruitful career, the rapper has spoken openly about female sexuality in her songs, despite growing criticism of artists who choose to speak openly about this aspect of their lives.

An example was Rosalía, who was strongly criticized for the song “Hentai”, or at the end of the eighties —and still, even— when Madonna was questioned from her wardrobe to her provocative lyrics.

"I write strong, in the insinuating, sexual, sexy sense, but I think that until now I have not been disrespectful, it is not my purpose," PtaZeta tells Zona Pop CNN in an interview via Zoom.

"If [in a song] I talk a little more about love or about the consent of couples, I always try to make it a healthy, free, non-toxic message," adds the singer.

"Tiki Tiki" is no exception to the rule, the theme is a waste of sexuality.

The song was born in a composition camp in Amsterdam, says the singer through a press release.

The song was produced by her regular collaborator DJ Juacko along with Maki Váez, Distorzion and Nigel Hey.

“For a long time I wanted to record a song with Lola since she is a great musical reference in Spain.

When we think of the concept of the song, we quickly think of it because of the good vibes between the two”, says the Canarian singer.

The song is the second release of the interpreter this year after closing 2022 with songs like "Mala mala" and "Desacatá" together with L-Gante.

What PtaZeta looks for in its collaborations

PtaZeta is known in Latin America, specifically in Argentina, for its collaborations with L-Gante, Nicki Nicole or Bizarrap, with whom it also has a

music session.

The rapper told Zona Pop CNN that she wants the artists with whom she collaborates to align with her personal values and her vision of seeing the world.

“I try to make the

feats

(the collaborations) the same as me.

When I see someone who has said things that do not fit in me or I see that he is excessively macho, well I am not going to collaborate," PtaZeta told Zona Pop CNN.

"I think that if one day I do a

feat

and they send me something that I don't like or I feel that they are disrespecting me as a woman, I would say it, I would emphasize it, that it will not come out there", adds.

Rooster battles and Instagram: the springboards of his career

It could be said that PtaZeta's career began thanks to the rooster battles, which are street rap competitions where contestants improvise bars and whoever has the best bars wins.

These improvisations are also known as

freestyle

.

The singer, who was always writing stories and everything that happened to her, saw these competitions as an opportunity.

In 2019, PtaZeta began to improvise until he perfected the technique and used his pen to compose his own songs.

The Canary Islander says that what convinced her to follow this artistic direction was when she rapped for people and they told her that she was “cool”.

"I decided to sing my songs more than because of the cockfights because I liked to compose," PtaZeta tells Zona Pop CNN.

Musicality is a natural gift in PtaZeta: he knows melodies because he is a trumpeter.

“Music had always been in me because I play the trumpet.

I had always been into that roll of the instruments and the sounds, but not in that part of composition, of interpreting, or anything, ”she explains.

Instagram was one of the platforms that helped her break out in the music industry.

“I started uploading with my mobile to Instagram.

Every week I uploaded one-minute videos rapping, until one day I ran into Juacko”, says the singer.

Juacko is a Spanish producer and DJ who has been behind the production of PtaZeta songs such as "Mami", which exploded to such a level that it managed to be among the five most listened to songs in Spain in 2020 and accumulate more than 90 million views. between YouTube and Spotify.
