The spirits in the local council are turbulent after the horrific night • Minister of National Security Ben Gabir arrived at the scene and confronted the residents who shouted at him "where is the security" • The head of the council blamed the police for not remaining responsible • "An attempt by an elected official to gain headlines and political capital on the victim's back"

The residents of the settlement of Gedera are upset following the shocking rape that happened tonight in one of the neighborhoods.

Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir arrived in the city and the residents demonstrated and chanted "want security".

In the neighborhood where the rapist lived, there are reports of a feeling of insecurity and that her testimony indicates that her assailant had an Arab accent.

The shocking incident happened as mentioned tonight, around two o'clock.

In the building's WhatsApp group, the neighbors woke up to a message written by the rapist: "I live on the 2nd floor. He spoke Arabic. Besides that, you know, he tied me and my eyes. They broke into my house, I tried to confront him, he tied me all over my body next to my little son , after walking around the whole house he came back and raped me."

This is what the woman who was attacked, who lives alone in an apartment with three small children, wrote.

The woman called the police as soon as her attacker left.

Many forces arrived, collected findings from the scene and launched a hunt for the attacker.

It is estimated that this is an illegal resident.

The investigation shows that the attacker broke into her house through the balcony, tied her up and covered her eyes while she begged him not to hurt her.

He went around her house, collected things and finally came back and raped her, with her little son in the room with her.

Some of the neighbors said that they heard noises early in the morning, and only when they read her message in the WhatsApp group, did they realize what had happened.

In the midst of the police investigation, a battle of accusations began between the head of the Gedera Council and the police.

Yoel Gamaliel, head of the council, issued a statement stating that "We woke up to a shocking morning that shakes the entire community of Gedara and the entire State of Israel. We are witnessing the cost of the lack of hand of the Israel Police which time and again abandons the mayors, the residents of the State of Israel and the citizens of Israel. We are at the forefront of the war on crime and we have no response from the body entrusted with enforcing order and law."

Gamliel added, saying that "there cannot be a situation where the residents of the State of Israel, innocent citizens, will be left to fight with their bodies and souls against burglars, car thieves, illegal residents and violent criminals. Unfortunately, the resident of Gedera paid a heavy price with her body and soul, and with her the entire community of Gedera. We are going to fight and we will not stop Until the Israel Police changes its operations in cities all over the country."

In Gadara they claimed that the lack of standards for police officers created a feeling of insecurity and also caused an increase in criminal incidents in the city.

The Central District Police responded to the allegations and said: "Regarding the absurd and irresponsible words of the head of the council, we express disgust at the attempt of an elected official to gain headlines and political capital on the back of a crime victim."

"We will turn over every stone"

In the meantime, the Police Commissioner, Senior Superintendent Yaakov Shabtai, spoke with the Central District Commander, Superintendent Avi Biton, and the two agreed that significant investigative personnel should be directed as well as all the technological means available to the police in order to bring about the arrest of the rape suspect in the fence as soon as possible. Biton There was a situation assessment and assigned the investigation to the central unit of the central district.

"The Israel Police will turn over every stone and spare no means and manpower in order to arrest the suspect and complete the investigation as quickly as possible," Shabtai said.

"I am up-to-date on the details and the work of the investigators who have already proven their professionalism in complex investigations many times in the past and I guarantee that the Israel Police will bring the suspect to justice."

In the meantime, as mentioned, many residents came to demonstrate near the scene of the incident and called to take to the streets to increase the sense of security.

Even in the council's WhatsApp and Facebook groups, many people are calling for the streets.

"Let's restore security. Our children are afraid to go out on the street, women are afraid to walk around alone at night," wrote one of the residents.

At the demonstration, during the arrival of Minister Ben Gabir, the residents carried signs against the police who abandoned them and their personal security and confronted the minister.

"This is a terrible and terrible event," Ben Gabir told the residents.

"I hope that in a short time they will find that wrongdoer, but I also came here to talk in general about the feeling of security. People feel, not only here, not safe - and they are right. We need to make a serious change, that's what I'm working and fighting for."

As a reminder, it is suspected that the woman in her thirties was sexually assaulted in her home in her fence by an unknown person who burst into the scene.

In the meantime, the station's and forensics investigators gathered findings at the scene, along with accompanying the woman to the medical center and professional questioning, with the aim of furthering the investigation and identifying the suspect.

The investigation shows that the rapist broke in at night through one of the windows in the house.

At the time, the victim and three small children who were sleeping were in the house.

The rapist tied her hands and covered her eyes and brutally raped her.

After the act, he fled the scene and she called the police, who began a hunt.

Lior Madhala, CEO of the Gedera Council: "The council already approved over five years ago the allocation of land for the establishment of a police station within the council's territory.

The station was supposed to be built as part of the security forces' compound in the fence alongside the MDA station and the fire fighters' station that were indeed established there. Unfortunately, the police chose not to approve the construction of the station and to withdraw the budget designated for it, even though from a legal point of view all the required approvals had already been given."
