The sea dragon, storms and weather conditions prevailing in Tartous governorate today have caused damage to protected crops in rural Banias.
The head of the Drought and Natural Disasters Fund in the Directorate of Agriculture of Tartous, Haider Shaheen, told SANA reporter that at around 10 am, as a result of the unstable weather conditions, a sea dragon struck the Al-Qulua area in the countryside of Banias, and caused severe damage to the protected crops, which led to the damage of 70 greenhouses planted mostly with tomatoes. In addition to zucchini, some of which are in the production stage and some are young seedlings, and the damage rate ranges from 20 to 70 percent.
Shaheen added: This also coincided with strong winds that hit the areas of Maqbariya, Beit Janad, and Al-Bayda, which led to the plastic sheets of the houses being blown away, pointing out that the agricultural and disaster fund cadres are still following up the damage inventory operations to accurately determine the number of houses and the percentage of damage.
About 220 greenhouses planted with vegetables were damaged the day before yesterday in the areas of Al-Hisheh, Sahel Mayar Shaker, Al-Mantar, Sahl Yamour, Plain Akkar, Dakika and Arab Al-Shati, as a result of the sea dragon, storms and weather conditions that Tartous governorate is going through, according to the Directorate of Agriculture in Tartous, and the damage ranges between partial and total. .
