Folk songs, Sufi chants, and hymns in the Syriac language were performed by the Elias Hanna Musical Heritage and Charity Foundation Choir in an evening entitled “Traditional Tunes”, led by Maestro Dr. Fadi Antoun, at the Dar Al-Tarbyah Theater in Aleppo.
Maestro Anton stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the goal of the evening is to present the Syriac heritage in a new form and distribution in order to revive it again without prejudice to the content, by presenting traditional hymns and chants that call for adherence to the land and belonging to the homeland, in addition to traditional folk songs full of love and adoration to show the richness of the Syriac heritage that is incomparable. It depends only on church rituals, but it is full of artistic diversity of chants and songs.
While the director and owner of the Heritage and Charitable Foundation, Elias Hanna, indicated that he returned from the expatriate after a long absence to revive the Syriac heritage and contribute to preserving the Syriac language, which dates back to more than seven thousand years, calling on the new generation and children to learn it, in addition to building bridges with the people of Syria in the Diaspora through music. And traditional singing and the promotion of belonging to the homeland.
The Archbishop of Aleppo and its dependencies explained to the Syriac Orthodox, Boutros Qassis, that the evening carries an important Syrian heritage, which is the ancient and ancient Syriac heritage, indicating that the Syriac-Syrian civilization, which extended over hundreds of years, left a great impact on the Syrian land.
Qassis pointed out that today's meeting, which brings together many of the countrymen of Syriac origin, is a reinforcement of the Syrian cultural heritage, calling for contemplation of the spirituality emanating from civilizations, with the transcendence of the difficult circumstances we live in, in order to know our ancient roots.
