Audi Q4 Sportback 50 e-Tron Quattro, the electric low profile

2023-02-04T10:48:44.012Z

TEST - Gateway to the electric universe of the firm with the rings, this compact SUV relies on its physique to seduce.

For most manufacturers, the ecological transition is accelerating.

In three years, Audi will only launch electric models worldwide.

Last year, these battery-powered vehicles did not exceed 7.35% of its overall sales, or 118,196 units.

Model of access to the electric range, the Q4 e-Tron monopolized the majority of volumes.

Positioned between the Q3 and the Q5, this SUV has the right size and has the advantage of being available in an attractive Sportback silhouette (+ €2,000) recognizable by its lowered roof and its motorized tailgate crossed at its base by a spoiler aerodynamic.

The interior of the vehicle inherits the latest Audi codes: customizable digital instrumentation, central tablet oriented towards the driver, raised central console incorporating the transmission lever, upholstery in mixed leather and suede.

Vigorous accelerations

Starting from the VW Group's MEB platform, the Q4 e-Tron comes in three models, from 204 to 299 hp.

Thanks to its two motors, the latter reserves vigorous acceleration (0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds) and preserves perfect traction on soft ground.

The paddles on the steering wheel, which control three levels of regeneration and simulate downshifts, encourage dynamic driving.

The weight of more than 2.1 tons requires not to get carried away on the secondary network, the agility not being that of a GT and the useful 77 kWh battery draining quickly.

Even at a senator's train, it is impossible to go below 23 kWh/100 km.

You have to stop often and that's where the trouble begins.

The Q4 can charge up to 135 kW on a fast terminal, but the network often acts up, failing to spark.

And refills can go on forever.

This is how on the Ionity network in Reims, we have never been able to charge more than 74 kW of power (battery charged at 35%).

Recovering 80% of the battery capacity - nearly 260 km of autonomy on the motorway - will have taken thirty minutes, not counting the stop and the installation of the cable.
