The Chinese Foreign Ministry claimed tonight (Saturday) that the spy balloon found over the skies of the United States was an accident caused by "force majeure".

They accused American politicians and media of exploiting the situation to discredit China.

In the United States, they added that the balloon was a clear violation of the country's sovereignty, and at the same time, Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken postponed his visit to China, which was planned for the coming week.

The US government announced yesterday that the country has been tracking a suspected Chinese spy balloon that was spotted over the skies of Montana in recent days.

Overnight, Republican Senator Jerry Moran said he had received reports of another balloon over northeast Kansas.

"China has invaded the airspace of the United States, Biden needs to take action to address this situation. Further delay is unacceptable," said Moran.

Later, a Pentagon spokesman told CNN that another balloon had been spotted in the skies over South America.

"We are seeing reports of a balloon that went to Latin America. We currently estimate that it is another Chinese spy balloon," he said.

It is not clear exactly where the balloon is over Latin America, but according to an official, it does not appear that the balloon is headed for the United States.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who was scheduled to visit China this week, postponed the visit but claimed that his country is still diplomatically committed to China, and that he will visit Beijing when conditions permit.

The Chinese first said that the balloon was used for "civilian meteorological and other scientific purposes" and then added that it was an accident caused by "force majeure".

They also expressed regret over the fact that the balloon deviated into the airspace of the United States and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it would continue to maintain communication with the United States to "properly handle the unexpected situation."

Military leaders considered shooting down the high-altitude surveillance balloon, but ultimately recommended against it to President Joe Biden.

This is due to the high safety risk that could have been caused by the waste.

According to officials.

A senior Defense Department official said Washington had been tracking the balloon from the moment it entered US airspace, including by observations from manned aircraft.
