Thousands of Czech political, cultural, intellectual and social figures called on European countries to seek a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis, stop sending weapons to Ukraine and impose sanctions on Russia.
A petition signed by more than ten thousand Czechs, titled “Peace and Justice for Ukraine” stated: “We call on the governments of European countries to work towards a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine, and to stop fueling the war by sending weapons and imposing sanctions on Russia.”
The signatories of the petition, which the Moravian-Czech Communist Party declared its support for, stressed the necessity for the European Union and the governments of its countries to reassess the sanctions imposed on Russia, and their repercussions on the population and economies of the bloc countries on the continent, warning that sending weapons and imposing sanctions exacerbates the crisis in Ukraine, and harms families. and European companies.
The petition also warned that open military conflict between the West and Russia represents the greatest danger, and it transcends all current economic repercussions of the Ukrainian war.
