Where are you going this summer?

If you haven't decided yet, you should be quick: Because in the winter months, many are already planning their vacation for the warm days.

So, to ensure you have plenty of choice when it comes to where to stay, it's a good idea to start looking early, especially for the regions and countries that will be most popular among travelers in 2023.

Vacation in the summer holidays 2030: Germany is a very popular travel destination

Hotels and holiday apartments are among the most popular types of accommodation – an analysis by the comparison portal Check24 shows that the top destinations for summer holidays can also differ for each type of accommodation.

Travel destinations in Germany are always right at the top: "During this year's summer holidays, Germany is the most popular place for holiday accommodation," says Dr.

Timo Beck, Managing Director Holiday Apartments at Check24, in a statement.

The federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with its Baltic Sea destinations in particular arouses the interest of travellers.

An overnight stay there costs an average of 144 euros.

Schleswig-Holstein (Ø 138 euros) and Bavaria (Ø 110 euros) are also popular.

And German travel destinations also score well when it comes to hotel bookings: Bavaria is at the forefront in this category.

Summer holidays in other European countries: the rush is great here

Many travelers are always driven back into the sun in the summer of 2023 - this is also shown by the hotel booking data from Check24.

In other European countries, the Balearic Islands are a top travel destination with an average price of 173 euros per night.

The Mediterranean region around Turkey also promises a lot of sun and bathing fun and is therefore unsurprisingly in second place.

However, with an average price of 224 euros per night, Turkey is one of the most expensive holiday destinations in the evaluation.

The Istrian peninsula takes third place – here travelers pay an average of 212 euros per night in a hotel.

"Compared to previous years, we are seeing a significant increase in hotel prices, especially during the holiday season," says Markus Gössler, Hotel Manager at Check24.

“The closer the journey gets, the sooner the prices rise and the supply becomes scarce.

Consumers who want to travel during the summer holidays should therefore book as early as possible in order to still benefit from a wide range of offers.”

Travelers seem to get away a little cheaper with holiday home accommodation.

The top destination in Europe here is Istria with an average price of 198 euros per night - around 14 euros cheaper than in a hotel.

West Pomeranian is the second favorite destination for vacationers who want to stay in a holiday home.

Cost point: On average 140 euros per night.

In Veneto, which takes third place, overnight stays in a holiday home are also cheaper than in a hotel at an average of 159 euros.

"However, inflation and the energy crisis are also making themselves increasingly felt in holiday accommodation," says Timo Beck.

"Nevertheless, the desire to travel is unbroken."
