The Ambassador of Special Missions of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Head of the Secretariat of the Russian-African Partnership Forum, Oleg Azorov, said: Western countries' requests to African countries not to cooperate with Russia gave the opposite effect.
Azorov indicated in a statement to Sputnik that “the West’s demands not to cooperate with Russia have the opposite effect, because the attempt to dictate and impose the West’s rules on other countries causes a sharp reaction from many African countries that, like Russia, have sovereignty and defend it.”
Azorov considered that attempts by Western countries to accuse Russia of some kind of malicious activities in Africa are bankrupt.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, warned that the United States and Europe are calling on African countries not to cooperate with Russia, and are seeking to restore African colonialism.
It is noteworthy that the US House of Representatives passed last April a law claiming the existence of malicious Russian activity in Africa, with the aim of trying to impose punishment against the countries of the brown continent that cooperate with Russia in some fields, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed in a press conference on the 24th of the month. In the past, Western propaganda and statements claiming that Russia is undermining the interests of the European Union in Africa are unfounded, and are mere propaganda, pointing out that his country does not interfere in the affairs of African countries, but only provides support based on their request.
