Today (4th) at 10:10 in the morning, a unit in the East Block of Fugui Building, No. 1-21, Bowen Street, Tai Kok Tsui burst into flames.
The firefighters received multiple calls for help, and dispatched a firefighter and a smoking cap team to the rescue.
About 20 residents were evacuated by firefighters, some of them were rescued by firefighters climbing ladders, and some elderly people with limited mobility were rescued by police officers.
The fire was largely under control at 11:08 a.m., and two men and a woman became unwell after inhaling smoke and were sent to hospital.
Resident Huang Bo told the story of the fire alarm, saying that the unit where the fire broke out was on the third floor. He had just gone out to take the elevator, and a man from the unit where the fire started told him that there was a fire. Choi (firefighter) rescued us in time, and stopped me, and when I reached the stairs, there was no smoke!"
Uncle Huang pointed out the smoke, but fortunately the firefighters took him and his family out of the building in time.
