Occupied Jerusalem - SANA

With the support of the American administration, the Israeli occupation announced new settlement plans south and north-east of the occupied city of Jerusalem, in a new violation of international resolutions that confirm the illegality of settlements and call for its cessation, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution No. 2334 of 2016.

The National Office for Defending the Land and Resisting Settlements of the Palestine Liberation Organization stated in a report published today on its website that two days after the visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to occupied Jerusalem, the occupation authorities announced two settlement plans south of Jerusalem, the first of which includes the establishment of 1070 settlement units on the lands of Al-Thawri neighborhood. And parts of the lands of the towns of Jabal Al-Mukaber and Sur Baher, and the second includes the establishment of 160 settlement units in a settlement established at Al-Quds-Hebron Street.

The report indicated that the occupation seized more than 500 dunums between the towns of Hizma and Jaba, northeast of Jerusalem, to expand a settlement road, pointing out that this confirms the existence of a green light received by the occupation authorities from the American minister and the team he left behind in the city of Jerusalem, to continue pressure on the Palestinians to serve the interests of Occupation.

The report indicated that the occupation authorities handed the owners of 13 houses in the town of Jabal al-Mukabber in Jerusalem notices to demolish them during the next few days, as part of a systematic plan to displace the people of the town. In solidarity with the people of the village of Al-Khan Al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem, and the international refusal to displace them to postpone the implementation of its demolition plan until next June.

The report stated that the occupation forces demolished a house in the town of Jabal al-Mukabber and two commercial establishments in the towns of Silwan and Sur Baher in Jerusalem, and two houses in the towns of Al-Walaja and Beit Jala in Ramallah, while they delivered notices to demolish four homes and two agricultural establishments in the town of Yatta in Hebron.

The report stated that, during the past week, settlers, with the protection of the occupation forces, carried out hundreds of attacks on Palestinians and their property, as they stormed neighborhoods in the cities of Jerusalem, Nablus, Hebron, Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Jericho, and burned homes, cars, and shops, and blocked roads from the north to the south of the West Bank, and assaulted Palestinians in the towns of Beita. Hawara, Burqin, Aqraba, Majdal Bani Fadil and Qusin, south of Nablus, and in the villages of Ain al-Bayda, Bardala and Kardala in the northern Jordan Valley, while they seized areas of the town of Tuqu’ in Bethlehem and began paving a settlement road.

The report indicated that international human rights organizations, commenting on the occupation’s demolition of Palestinian homes and facilities, affirmed that these continuous repressive measures and practices amount to a war crime, in addition to the two crimes against humanity represented by apartheid and persecution, calling on the occupation to dismantle the apartheid regime.
