In the Congress of Mexico City, a bill was launched that seeks to prevent and punish acid attacks against women.

The initiative, named Malena Law, is given in honor of saxophonist María Elena Ríos, a survivor of acid violence —a type of premeditated violence that occurs as revenge— in Oaxaca.
