This week, the discussions in the Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee will continue, this in the shadow of the opinion of the legal advisor, Gali Beharev Miara, who opposes the reform of Minister Yarav Levin.
State President Yitzhak Herzog proposed an outline for the existence of negotiation talks between the judiciary and the coalition, but no responsive responses have yet been received.
As of this time, the parties are fortifying their positions.
It is not clear whether a compromise is possible since, in the judicial system, all the articles of the reform are opposed separately.
The ombudsman's opinion states that "Each of the proposed arrangements, and certainly their accumulation, will lead to severe damage to the network of checks and balances between the authorities.
Each of the proposed arrangements raises substantial difficulties, which go to the root of the principle of separation of powers, judicial independence and professionalism of the judiciary, the protection of individual rights, the rule of law and the maintenance of proper administration."

However, the Legal Adviser to the Government told the Minister of Justice at the meeting where the opinion was delivered to him, that she is ready to assist him and propose another reform.
The opinion of the ombudsman also states that the Ministry of Justice "is prepared to devote all the necessary resources, to act with a concentrated effort, and to establish a dedicated senior professional team in order to formulate a government proposal as soon as possible and submit it to the Minister of Justice." So far, Minister Levin has not responded to the proposal.
This week, the deputy ombudsman Avital Sompolinski, who coordinated the work on the opinion against the reform, will arrive at the Constitution Committee.
