Markus Söder's costumes at the carnival in Franconia are legendary.

In the search for a new disguise, he has now taken his fans with him.

Nuremberg - The carnival celebrations are imminent and with them the cult show "Fastnacht in Franken" on Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR).

Bavaria's politicians often appear there in disguise.

Prime Minister Markus Söder has been enthusiastic in recent years as Shrek, Gandalf or Marilyn Monroe, among others.

And this year?

The disguise for the event was apparently not yet fixed on Saturday (February 4th).

The CSU boss said that himself in an Instagram video.

The clip begins strangely, because Söder wears an oversized frog head.

So he disguises himself as a frog prince for carnival?

Probably not, because when he takes it off, he assures that this is not his costume for Veitshöchheim.

"I'm still looking," he admits.

To do this, he went to a costume rental shop in his hometown of Nuremberg.

"What would all be conceivable?" - Markus Söder is looking for a carnival costume

"What would all be conceivable?" he asks.

An employee hands the CSU leader a witch's hat.

But he doesn't seem to like it: "I don't think it's anything for me, how about that?" he asks his followers.

Next he tries on a knight's helmet, which elicits an enthusiastic "Oh yes, knight" from Söder.

It is unclear whether he appears as a knight on "Fastnacht in Franken", the video ends without a decision from Bavaria's Prime Minister.

"Cringe doesn't even come close here," someone commented on Söder's video.

"We live in a simulation," jokes another person.

"Please make sure to dress up," demands a woman.

"They were always great costumes!" And another agrees: "So far, the selection has always been great." Many voted in the comments for the frog or the knight from the costume rental.

There are also voices for Pinocchio, Albert Einstein, Obi Wan Kenobi and Aquaman.

The followers will have to wait a few more days to see which costume the CSU boss has chosen.
