17 people were killed and 12 others injured, as a result of a collision between a truck and a bus in Tanga province, northern Tanzania.
Xinhua quoted a local official as saying today: "The accident occurred yesterday when a truck collided with a minibus carrying 26 passengers in the Korugoy district of Tanga, killing 17 people and injuring 12 others."
The official indicated that an investigation has been opened into the accident to determine its causes.
