Today, an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the city of Coquimbo, in northern Chile.
Reuters quoted the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center as saying: "The earthquake struck off the city of Coquimbo, north of the capital, Santiago, at a depth of 73 kilometers."
There were no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake.
