More accidents and blood on the A14 stretch south of the Marche region, and a destroyed family.

That of Andrea Silvestrone, 51-year-old Paralympic athlete of 'weelchair tennis', tennis in a wheelchair, and two of his three children - a 14-year-old boy and his 8-year-old sister - from Montesilvano (Pescara), who died in the crash between the car on which they traveled on the A14, heading north, inside the Galleria Castello in Grottammare (Ascoli Piceno) at a construction site with two-way traffic, and a lorry.

A third 12-year-old son was seriously injured in the impact, transported to and hospitalized in the Torrette hospital in Ancona.

After the accident, which took place shortly before 11, a scenario of wreckage and death: the driver of the heavy vehicle was unharmed.

The northern section between Pedaso and San Benedetto del Tronto,

it remained closed until 2 pm and then reopened with traffic in one lane in each direction thanks to the intervention of the fire brigade, the 7/o Autostrade staff, the Traffic Police who are carrying out investigations, still underway, on the dynamics of the accident: "from the first reconstructions - Autostrade reports - the car invaded the oncoming lane for reasons under investigation".

A dog in the car was also killed in the crash.

A "

complaint-complaint

" will be presented this week to

the Fermo Public Prosecutor's Office

"on the very serious and unacceptable situation of the construction sites open on the A14 in the section between Pedaso and Grottammare".

This was announced by the

regional councilor Pd Marche Fabrizio Cesetti

, "after yesterday's tragedy on the A14, in Grottammare, which took the life of the 51-year-old Paralympic tennis player Andrea Silvestrone and his two sons aged 14 and 8, from Montesilvano (Pescara ); a third 12-year-old son is hospitalized in intensive care at the Pediatric Salesi hospital in Ancona. Cesetti, a lawyer, believes that the Autostrade company should clarify its actions to the judiciary.

   During the hours of blockage of the A14 section, queues formed for over 2 km in both directions.

A few weeks ago, in the same stretch, a similar accident cost the life of 45-year-old Samuele Cotichini;

in August 2018 in the Galleria Castello, but heading south, a lorry caught fire causing the motorway tunnel, heading south, to be closed for 6 months.

This fatal "umpteenth accident" on the motorway between the Marches and Abruzzo has rekindled the controversy over motorway safety and in particular construction sites.

The president of the Marches, Francesco Acquaroli spoke with the governor of Abruzzo Marco Marsilio: both ask to review the construction sites: "

it must push local and national institutions to adopt concrete solutions to protect the safety of the thousands of citizens who travel that stretch of road every day.

It can't go on like this."

   "Andrea Silvestrone, the news of the accident that took you away from us, together with two of your children, really hurts us," said Pescara mayor Carlo Masci.

There were numerous expressions of condolence: from the Lilt of Pescara to the mayor of Montesilvano, Ottavio De Martinis "devastated" by what happened;

from Luca Savoiardi, President of the Marche Italian Paralympic Committee to Claudio Ferrante (Association of Wheelchairs Determined Abruzzo).

On Italian roads, a trail of accidents even in the last 24 hours.

On the Liri highway, after the Balsorano (L'Aquila) exit in the territory of the Municipality of Sora (Frosinone), two brothers from Balsorano lost their lives.

In Rome, during the night, five boys between the ages of 16 and 22 were injured, four seriously, on the Via Tiberina in Fiano Romano: the

car in which they were traveling crashed into a large tree.

Yesterday evening a 48-year-old on a scooter hit a wild boar and died on the Via Bolognese, in the Municipality of Scarperia in Mugello (Florence).
