A 21-year-old woman died falling from a merry-go-round on Saturday at a carnival in Clermont-Ferrand, we learned from the emergency services.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the victim.
The young woman's companion was slightly injured in the same accident, as was the manager of the carousel.
They were both taken to Clermont hospital, the emergency services said.
The accident, for a reason still unknown, occurred at the end of the afternoon at the Cristal Parc funfair, which had just started this Saturday.
Five people had to be taken care of by the emergency services, in a state of shock, according to the firefighters.

A judicial investigation was opened for manslaughter, according to
