Death of a candidate in Ecuador "tarnishes the electoral process, but we must overcome and move forward," says Diana Atamaint

The death of a candidate hours before the sectional elections this Sunday in Ecuador "tarnishes the electoral process," the president of Ecuador's National Electoral Council, Diana Atamaint, told CNN.

The official added that the armed forces will guarantee the security and integrity of the candidates and asked citizens to find out through official channels.
