A few months after reports surfaced that Hong Kong would be handing out half a million free plane tickets to the city, now the plan is finally coming to fruition.
So how is it supposed to work?
According to a CNBC report, the first phase of the program, which is expected to begin next month, will be to distribute about 80,000 tickets to locals and various countries in Asia.
After that, in Hong Kong the tickets will be distributed according to areas with great tourist potential for the country from different countries around the world, in the hope that Israel will also be part of this special project.

Officials in Hong Kong have stated that they intend to promote tourism to the destination, in the hope that the tickets that will be distributed will also bring with them additional ticket buyers who will help promote local tourism, this after three difficult years that passed through the city during the Corona period.

At the same time, in Hong Kong they removed the restrictions on entering it - and now everyone can enter it.
Hong Kong's only request is to perform a home corona test in the 24 hours before departure.
The direct flights from Israel to Hong Kong are operated only by Cathay Pacific, which also flies the shortened route over Oman.
El Al has canceled its line to Hong Kong, and at this stage it is not clear if it intends to bring it back into operation.
