The 22nd Montgolfiade at Tegernsee ended on Saturday evening with a glowing balloon.
On Sunday, only a "little tidbit" was possible.
Bad Wiessee
- The great spectacle of yesteryear has remembered its origins, the Montgolfiade at Tegernsee took place again this year as a balloon meeting.
The only public item on the program was also less spectacular than it used to be: During the balloon glow on Saturday evening, the covers on the Wiesseer Sonnenbichl remained wrapped due to the softened ground and the gusts of wind, reports Peter Rie, Montgolfiade organizer at Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT).
The burners in the baskets of twelve teams lit up the evening like huge torches in front of around 250 visitors, flanked by a few model balloons.
Small but nice, says Rie: "The view from the terrace of the Berghotel Sonnenbichl with grill and bar was really nice."
The accompanying program keeps balloonists happy even without launches
Most of the 25 balloon teams, who were kept in the best of spirits last week with a program of lectures, a visit to the brewery and a tour of the natural cheese dairy, left on Sunday morning after it became clear that the weather in the valley was not suitable for larger trips would allow, explains Rie.
The participants of the Montgolfiade in the Tegernsee Valley 2023 only took off on a grand scale at the start in fantastic weather.
"One or two teams left in the direction of Warngau on Sunday morning and made a small hop from there."
