Defense Minister Yoav Galant and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gabir agreed on the termination of the service of conscript soldiers in the Security Forces' security wings. The ministers agreed that within six months the standards of the conscripts will be converted to the standards of permanent servants.
Ministers Galant and Ben Gvir share the position that there is an immediate need to stop the placement of soldiers in the Shavas, this in light of the suspicions of the serious rape incident that occurred in Gilboa prison and the alarming data presented in the State Comptroller's report on sexual harassment and assault incidents experienced by guards who served in the security wings of the prison service during their military service.
It was also agreed that during the next six months the Ministry of National Security will work to convert the standards of conscripts serving in the Security Service to the standards of permanent guards.
In addition, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of National Security agreed that the placement of soldiers in the Israel Police will be extended by 3 years, and this in light of the important role they play in maintaining the security of the country.
The proposal will be submitted for approval at the next cabinet meeting, after which it will be approved by the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee in accordance with the provisions of the law.
