Pension reform: an LR deputy signed the LIOT group's referendum motion

2023-02-05T18:01:26.399Z

INFO LE FIGARO – The elected LR of the Territory of Belfort Ian Boucard is one of the signatories of this referendum motion, which should be tabled tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the office of the National Assembly by the president of the LIOT group.

While the government is still taking a step closer to Les Républicains today, some right-wing parliamentarians are positioning themselves more than ever in opposition to pension reform.

This is the case of the LR deputy for the Territoire de Belfort Ian Boucard, who announced very early on that he would vote against the postponement of the legal retirement age to 64.

This Sunday, the elected official goes even further: he announces to

Le Figaro

that he is one of the signatories of the referendum motion that the group Libertés, Indépendants, Outre-mer et Territoires (LIOT) intends to file.

A motion which aims to impose a referendum on the government on the subject of pensions and to put an end to the executive bill before it is even examined.

“I will not have signed that of the

RN

or the Communists, but that of LIOT

seems to me to be the most depoliticized”

, estimates Ian Boucard, who nevertheless wonders about the chances for this motion to be examined.

Because this one, which should according to our information be deposited Monday at 2 p.m. at the office of the presidency of the National Assembly by the president of the LIOT group, Bertrand Pancher, arrives after a draw has already taken place between two other motions a few days ago, and having allowed the one tabled by the National Rally to win the bet.

“I never shoot against my side”

According to our information, this motion has already reached the necessary number of signatories (58 minimum), including a dozen deputies from the LIOT group, the Insoumis and environmentalists.

This isolated position of deputy Ian Boucard does not go unnoticed, while the president of the Republicans, Éric Ciotti, and that of the LR group in the National Assembly, Olivier Marleix, are both in favor of this reform and have negotiated several measures with the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne.

“I never shoot against my camp, but when I have convictions, I defend them.

This takes nothing away from the esteem and friendship I have for Olivier Marleix and for all the deputies in my group

,” reassures Ian Boucard.

The referendum motion of the National Rally - or that of LIOT, if there were to be a new draw - will be presented late Monday afternoon before the start of the examination of the pension reform bill .
