The government announced earlier that 8 sites will be selected for the construction of simple public housing, among which the proposed 10,700-unit Kai Tak World Fortune Road project has caused controversy.

Yang Yongjie, a member of the Kowloon Central Legislative Council who had applied for a letter of no objection to the police and planned to hold a rally to ask the government to reconsider the site selection, met today (5th) with Housing Secretary Ho Wing-yin and others.

Yang Yongjie described the meeting as frank and honest, feeling the goodwill of the bureau, and also accepting the bureau's promise of a "2+5" deadline and "CBD2" promises to remain unchanged and unchanged.

He revealed to "Hong Kong 01" that he has no intention to apply for an assembly for the time being, but because the authorities failed to respond to his concerns about transportation facilities, he indicated that he would abstain from voting when the Legislative Council Public Works Subcommittee approves the project.

Today (5th), Yang Yongjie, together with Kai Tak District Councilors Zhang Jingxun, He Huahan and Leung Wanting, met with Ho Yongxian and Deputy Director Dai Shangcheng on the construction of simple public housing on the Kai Tak site, reflecting the demands of residents.

Yang Yongjie said that the Bureau has made a clear and categorical promise that Kai Tak's simple public housing will be budgeted after the "2+5" period, that is, a 2-year construction period plus a 5-year use period, and the land will be released after the expiry date. The intention to implement the development means that "CBD2" will not change or change.

Yang Yongjie welcomed this, thinking that it was a reassurance to the public and relieved the biggest doubts of Kai Tak residents.

In addition, Yang Yongjie and others also raised their concerns about the problem of transportation connections and the lack of cultural and recreational facilities in the area.

Yang Yongjie revealed that he met with more than 20 representatives of Kai Tak residents yesterday (4th) and said that they all "understand the situation". As for some residents' representatives who threatened earlier that they would not rule out a judicial review of Kai Tak's site selection, Yang Yongjie said that he would respect the residents' decision .

However, he believes that the Bureau has still not fully responded to its concerns about the lack of transportation facilities in the site selection, so it is decided that the Legislative Council Public Works Group will vote on the project and will abstain from voting.

The Public Works Subcommittee of the Legislative Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday, the 8th of this month. The agenda includes the simple public housing project. It is currently unknown whether the project can be voted on at this meeting.
