A fire that broke out on Saturday evening in a building in a popular district of old Lisbon left two dead and 14 injured, including four children, the emergency services announced.
The fire was quickly brought under control and contained on the ground floor of a building in the Mouraria district, Commander Tiago Lopes, of the Lisbon fire brigade, told local media.

The mayor of the Portuguese capital, Carlos Moedas, indicated that there would be foreigners among the victims, according to the information radio station TSF.
The Mouraria neighborhood is home to several immigrant communities living in Portugal, particularly from Southeast Asian countries.
