"The enemy is preparing for an attack and we are preparing to defend ourselves and recover what is ours," said Zelensky's campaign

Oleksiy Reznikov, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, will be removed from his post because of a corruption scandal that was uncovered in his office, the party of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today (Sunday).

The Ministry of Defense will be handed over to the head of the Ukrainian Security Service, it was reported, although it is not clear when the exchange of roles will take place.

This is a continuation of the cleaning of the stables that Zelensky has been carrying out in the ranks of the administration for several months.

Reznikov, who, like the president, is also of Jewish origin, was under increasing pressure to step down.

He will be transferred to another government position, precisely at a sensitive time when preparations are being made for a severe attack by the Russians.

Reznikov was appointed in November 2021 and was an important figure in the preparation for war, and in the successes in containment so far.

But a series of senior officials in his office were revealed to be corrupt, and now he will have to pay the price.

"The war requires a change in manpower policy," it said.

"The circumstances require strengthening and reorganizing. This is what is happening now, and this is what will happen in the future. The enemy is preparing for an attack and we are preparing to defend ourselves and recover what is ours.
