The 16th Bergdoktor season is more dramatic than ever.

The latest episode is about an affair between a stepmother and stepson.

It doesn't go down well with viewers.

Ellmau – Since the 16th season of “Der Bergdoktor” premiered on ZDF on December 29th, many viewers are likely to be still eagerly awaiting the contemplative and idyllic Alpine atmosphere that one is actually used to from the cult series.

Instead, things are more dramatic than ever in the Wilder Kaiser region: the private life of Dr.

Martin Gruber (Hans Sigl, 53) is literally on fire and his patients suffer one stroke of fate after another.

For many loyal fans of the ZDF quota guarantor, the everlasting end-time feeling seems to be getting to be too much – especially after the sixth episode “Playing with Fire”.

Affair between stepmother and stepson: great drama in the latest Bergdoktor episode

BEWARE, SPOILER:

There have been many puzzling patient cases for Dr.

Martin Gruber and Dr.

Alexander Kahnweiler (Mark Keller, 57), above all, makes a plot line from the sixth episode powerful competition for the omnipresent family zoff in the Gruber house.

Because while Bergdoktor Martin and his brother Hans are on the warpath, Jule Reimann (Katrin Lux, 42) experiences her very own horror story when she wakes up next to a naked young man at the beginning of the episode after a night of partying.

It quickly becomes clear that this is by no means her husband Richard (Christian Erdmann, 48), but her 17-year-old stepson Noah (Luke Matt Röntgen, 19), who has recently been living with them.

As if the huge age difference between the two wasn't bad enough, the pierced teenager gets worse and worse as the episode progresses.

His health is declining rapidly and after several visits to the Bergdoktor, Martin Gruber pays the Reimanns a visit and has serious news for them: Noah is HIV-positive and Jule must immediately undergo prophylactic emergency treatment.

Even after this shocking revelation, the drama does not stop: Noah has to be taken to the hospital by helicopter after he was found unconscious in the mountains by Martin and Jule and barely escapes with his life.

At the end of the episode, Jule finally decides to move out so Noah can spend time with his father - and in an emotional scene says goodbye to her young ex-lover.

Hans Sigl's secret guest role in "Der Bergdoktor"

Since 2008, Hans Sigl has embodied the title hero Martin Gruber in "Der Bergdoktor".

The exciting life of the country doctor inspires millions of loyal fans with every episode and has made his actor one of the biggest stars of German television.

But what very few people know: the role as the son of Lisbeth Gruber is not Hans Sigl's first Bergdoktor appearance.

Because ten years before he slipped into the white doctor's coat, he was already seen as a taxi driver in the popular series that was still running on Sat.1 at the time and in which Gerhard Lippert, a completely different mountain doctor, was the focus.

Who knows - maybe an extra from the ZDF remake will one day succeed Hans Sigl?

"Steals the story from cheap FSK18 films": Bergdoktor fans tear up new episodes online

While the turbulent family life in the Gruber house has been met with sharp criticism from Bergdoktor fans for weeks, the verdict for the events surrounding Jule and Noah on social media is similarly devastating.

"Who actually thinks up these stories?" rants a Twitter user, "Bergdoktor steals the story from cheap stepmother FSK18 films," does the same to her other.

"Do they dice what diseases people have?" Scolds a user and can't help but make a derogatory remark about the series protagonist: "That Martin hasn't had a venereal disease in his love life."

A common thread that becomes very clear in the many negative Twitter comments is that many fans apparently want to go back to the early years of the cult series – when the Bergdoktor was mostly still a perfect world.

"I really feel sorry for the mountain doctor.

Can't the poor guy just have a normal day?

With normal patients?”, writes one user and another explains disappointed: “I think the story of the mountain doctor is slowly being told.”

It almost seems as if the motto of the 16th Bergdoktor season was: "How much can Martin Gruber endure?".

As if the likeable country doctor didn't already have enough to do with his patients, the explosive argument with his brother Hans keeps him on his toes.

After a heated argument between the two, Bergdoktor-Mama Lisbeth could now lose her sons forever.
